The clients, Wallrich Landi, purchased this existing office building from a well-known Californian property developer. Wishing for an open-plan space, the interiors were subsequently removed, and a more updated, airy plan was designed, befitting the new clients’ edgy image. Polished concrete floors were laid, whilst metal and ribbed glass screens now punctuate the generous space. Mark Rusconi conceived a personalized and sensitive lighting plan, and entirely designed the new office entry furniture. This furniture was fabricated by a Sacramento woodworker. After its installation, it finally completed the image that the clients were seeking. Less work was required to the façade. A steel and glass canopy for the entry was fashioned, railings and a gate now provide a small courtyard, and the same interior ribbed-glass was used on the windows bringing cohesiveness to the indoor/outdoor spaces. With its updated color scheme, this revitalized office building was a forerunner to the gentrification of midtown Sacramento, due in part to its sharply defined design ideas. credit: moniz and rusconi architects |
